We just moved to this off-breed cabin in upstate new york, and there was a solar system. That was intact and it had been dismantled, and we moved up in the middle of winter. So, there was no going out and fixing it. We picked up a small 100-watt solar system, and it was enough to keep the lights on, and maybe charge our phones but not much else.
So, our main power source has been a gasoline-powered generator which is big heavy, and it takes gasoline, and it’s loud.
About the EcoFlow, the timing could have been more perfect. We got this maybe about a month ago, and it’s just been tremendous. It’s been a fantastic addition to what we’ve got going on here. So, as I said, it is 720 watts and it features a number of power outlets on it, from the USB.
EcoFlow RIVER 600 Pro
You see in the front both USB-A quick charge and the newer USB-C. There are three AC outlets on the side for powering your household appliances, whatever you need to run, some DC ports like a car-type cigarette lighter charger port, and also the 8-millimeter female type plugs for your electronic devices, and to charge the unit back up.
You’ve got some options, there are two different ports. There’s one for AC power and there’s one for solar power. Ecoflow has solar panels. They’re 160 watts that plug into the unit on a nice clear day. We could plug it in and charge it back up.
So, on a typical night, we use our 100-watt solar system to keep the lights on, and you know just basic charging electronics. And then, we’ll use the EcoFlow for pretty much everything else for grinding coffee, for watching a movie or DVD at night, if we just want to chill and when the battery runs down.
All we do is kick on the generator, and plug it in, and it’s charged back up in like an hour and a half. It’s really light, it’s portable, it’s quiet, it doesn’t require gas. If you’re going car camping, or you’re taking the RV out in the family, and you want to keep your electronics charged, it’d be a great option for that as an emergency backup.
If the power goes down, you could at least keep the lights on, and stay connected that way. But for us here, off-grid using the river pro has tremendously, cut down on our generator time. Now, we only have to run the generator, maybe an hour and a half, once or twice a week versus every night for multiple hours.
Now, as far as accessories, go aside from the solar panels. There’s also an additional battery pack that you’re able to use with the unit. That doubles the storage capacity, and it doubles the power output taking it from 720 watts to 1440, very cool.
That’s a lot of power and it doubles the time that you’re able to use it. It doubles the storage. Today, so I’m going to show you how the EcoFlow runs my high-powered Vitamix blender. This is an older model. I love this thing, I use it for coffee, soup, smoothies, and I was really bummed out. Because our solar couldn’t really run.
So, this is awesome. I’m going to show you, how this baby grinds, some beads from our local health food store. Okay, smells really good, we got a coarse grain of coffee, all ready to go, and we’re going to put it in our jar, and do that like once a week done.
