Jackery Explorer 1500 REVIEW

David, the filmmaker here at Tacoma beast, and batteries are my lifeline. Everything I do revolves around filmmaking, and that revolves around charging my cameras, drones, audio equipment, lights, everything I need to never miss a shot. So, I’m really looking forward to seeing if this Jackery Explorer 1500 is gonna be the replacement for our new portable battery after one week of testing it out.

Jackery Explorer 1500 Impression

First impressions when we removed the Jackery from the box, we noticed it’s heavy, it weighs 33 pounds. This thing is a dumbbell but compared to the battery that we took out on the pony express,  which is a 500 watts battery, this thing is still much lighter, and this is 1500. So, it’s three times the size and it’s a lithium-ion battery. So, that typically means that it’s going to be a lot lighter than the typical, or traditional AGM batteries.

And my first impression when taking this out of the box is the build quality. I’m a stickler for detail, and I love this handle. It’s a solid handle, the plastic is solid. It doesn’t feel like a toy, it doesn’t feel finicky. It’s got a solid texture. It doesn’t feel like it’s going to scratch easily, I even tried scratching off the paint,  and I can’t do that. So, really solid job on the build.

Another little detail that I noticed is that they rounded the edges. Now, this was a great design choice from Jackery, because when you’re carrying a 33 pounds dumbbell, you don’t want it to edge against you. You don’t want that feeling, or when you’re throwing it into the back of your truck, you don’t want to edge into your leather. You don’t want indentations and your valuables. So, really good job on that rounded edge. I think that was a really good design choice. If I had to say one thing, I wish he made a matte black version, but I’m just being picky.

Conclusion

Jackery Explorer 1500 REVIEW – Okay, some negative things if I could point out. Any negative things I wish they would separate the AC outlets a little bit more, that way I would have space to connect three at the same time, camera batteries are very clunky, so they cover two outlets by just charging one battery. So, they would separate this a little bit more than would be nice maybe, if they separate these a little board that would be nice too.

So, I wouldn’t have to be so cluttered other than that. This is like the big honker, super expensive one most people are not charging 12 batteries every night, so I’m sure the 500 version will work for you just fine if you don’t need to charge a bunch of batteries. But, let’s talk about some things you could do like,  this is ready for glamping, you could put a blender, a toaster, you can do a pina colada.

On your next camping trip, you could plug in a heater for your tent, an electric heater, lights. There’s so much you could do with, check out they have other models, and they’re coming out with brand new models as well. I know that this one was an exclusive model that recently just came out.
